Pest Control in Hackney

In Hackney, pest control is often a landlord’s or a restaurant’s problem as much as a homeowner’s. Shared houses and HMOs in Dalston, Stoke Newington and Homerton can spread bed bugs from room to room, and the kitchens of Shoreditch and Dalston can’t afford a sighting mid-service. Period houses in Stoke Newington and De Beauvoir bring their own mice and loft problems.

Diamond Pest Control covers the whole borough with a 100% electric fleet of unmarked vans. We’re open 24/7 and your call will always be answered.

For homes, landlords and businesses

Homes

A survey, a treatment plan you understand, and proofing so the problem doesn’t return. See residential pest control.

Landlords, HMO managers and letting agents

In shared houses, pests move between rooms and shared kitchens, so the landlord or licence holder usually needs to be involved. Call us whether you’re a tenant, landlord or agent.

Businesses

Hackney’s food and nightlife scene runs late, and our unmarked, electric vans don’t advertise a pest problem outside a shared house or a Dalston bar. We also offer monitoring contracts, and deal with drain-related rat problems. See commercial pest control.

Council pest control vs Diamond in Hackney

Hackney Council runs a paid pest control service. You request a visit and the council says it will contact you within 48 hours to book an appointment, with payment taken at booking (Hackney Council pest control, checked 21 October 2026). The same page has a clear guide to the signs of rats, which is worth reading.

Diamond is open 24/7 and your call will always be answered. For council fees, see the council’s page; we don’t reproduce them here.

Pest control in Hackney: FAQs

Can you come out tonight or at the weekend in Hackney?

We’re open 24/7 and your call will always be answered, including nights, weekends and bank holidays. For bed bugs found in a shared house late at night, don’t move to another room to sleep, as that can spread them. We don’t promise an attendance time; when you call we’ll tell you honestly when we can be with you. See emergency pest control.

Does Hackney Council deal with rats?

Yes. Hackney Council offers paid rat and mouse treatments and says it will contact you within 48 hours to book. See the council’s pest control page.

Who pays for pest control in a rented flat in Hackney?

It depends on the tenancy and the cause. Where pests get in through the building’s structure, drains or shared areas, it is usually the landlord’s or freeholder’s job. In HMOs, the licence holder or landlord is usually responsible for pest problems in shared kitchens and bathrooms. See Shelter’s guide to pests in rented homes.
